Story time: opening my relationship and my sexual health
Story time.
When I opened up my relationship last year, I knew I was going to have to take my smeggsual health a lot more seriously.
Not because I was worried something would happen, but because having multiple partners means being proactive instead of reactive. So I decided I wanted to start getting tested regularly as part of my routine.
And that’s when I discovered how surprisingly difficult STI testing can be in Quebec.
You can go through the public system, but appointments can be hard to get and wait times aren’t always ideal. Or you can go private and pay a lot more than most people want to spend on routine testing.
Then I stumbled across @centre.prelib @prelib.centre
Honestly, I’m shocked more people don’t know about it.
You book online, choose one of their clinics, do your samples, and get your results afterward. If you have a valid RAMQ card, the service is covered and you only pay a small sample transportation fee (typically around $5–$15). They also have multiple locations across Quebec, including several in Montreal. (Prelib)
The whole process is simple, discreet, and takes a lot of the friction out of getting tested.
Considering STI rates continue to rise and many infections have no symptoms at all, regular testing is one of the easiest things we can do for ourselves and our partners.
So if you’ve been putting off getting tested because it feels complicated, expensive, awkward, or time-consuming… this is your sign.
Smeggsual health is healthcare. ❤️
