Japan, I owe you a proper visit
Japan… I owe you a proper visit. 🇯🇵❤️
I only had a few short days there, and honestly? It wasn’t under the best conditions. I was wildly jet-lagged, Tokyo felt HUGE, and I realized very quickly that if you don’t have a bit of a plan, you’ll spend half your day just trying to get from one place to another.
Truthfully, I was craving something familiar. I was on my way to Thailand 🇹🇭 , where I already knew the rhythm, the weather, and the vibe. So we ended up cutting Japan short… and then I unexpectedly had to fly back to Canada for family reasons anyway.
But even in those few days, Japan completely fascinated me.
🍜 I ate some of the best ramen I’ve ever had. Calling ramen an art form there honestly feels like an understatement.
🍆 I got to visit the @tenga_global and even spend time at their head office talking about their business, innovation, and how they’ve helped bring conversations around pleasure into the mainstream. Such a cool experience.
🌃 And one of my favourite moments was getting a deep dive into Tokyo’s red-light district with a Japanese comedian, who shared so much history and cultural context that I never would have discovered on my own.
Japan is complex, contradictory, creative, and endlessly fascinating. I barely scratched the surface.
So… this isn’t goodbye. It’s simply a “to be continued.”
Next time, I’m slowing down, staying longer, and really taking the time to colour in all the parts of this incredible culture.
