This is what going back to school later in life looks like 😂🖤

Last weekend I spent part of my “schooling” at Montreal F£t!sh Weeken …watching demos, learning about different things and types of play, getting electrical currents run through my body😏 ⚡️, watching people get vacuum sealed into latex (yup it’s a thing!), meeting people in the community and basically just exposing myself to a whole bunch of interesting things!

And yes… this was actually for school 😂

I’m studying seggsual health with @sexualhealthalliance , and part of our education involves something called a Seggsual Attitude Reassessment, or SAR.

Basically, if you’re going to work in this field, you need to be aware of your own biases, assumptions, judgments, discomforts… all the weird little reactions we ALL have whether we realize it or not.

And you can learn definitions and theories in a classroom all day long, but actually putting yourself in spaces that are unfamiliar to you is a VERY different kind of learning.

You get to notice what makes you curious. What makes you uncomfortable. What you maybe had completely wrong. You get to actually talk to people who are part of these communities instead of just learning ABOUT them.

Because eventually you might have someone sitting across from you whose sexuality, relationships, desires or ki-n—k look absolutely nothing like yours (or…maybe exactly 😏)…

And you don’t have to personally understand or be into any of it.

But you DO need to be able to meet them without judgment.

And honestly, this is probably one of my favourite parts of studying sexuality.

I don’t want to only learn about the things I already understand. I want to walk into rooms where I’m like WHAT THE EFF IS THAT 😂 and then… learn.

And this weekend definitely gave me a few of those moments lol.
