Why I invested in my sex education
A few years ago, I decided to invest in something that I didn’t know would bring me here today… my secs education! 😍
A lot of people don’t know this, but for the last couple of years I’ve been studying with @sexualhealthalliance while creating content about secs, #relationships, #intimacy and #pleasure.
When I first started, I thought I’d mostly be learning about spicy stuff 🌶️.
What I didn’t expect was how much I’d learn about people.
Some of the things I learned along the way that opened my eyes to SO MUCH MORE (they don’t teach us any of this stuff when we are younger):
✨ Not everyone experiences desire the same way.
✨ Good secs doesn’t have to include penetrati0n or an “0”.
✨ The clissoris is the only organ designed solely for pleasure.
✨ Culture influences how we express se//uality.
✨ Many of the “rules” we’ve been taught about relationships aren’t nearly as clear-cut as people make them seem.
The deeper I get into this field, the less interested I am in telling people what they should be doing in their bedrooms.
I’m much more interested in helping people understand themselves, communicate better, reduce shame, and create relationships that actually work for them. Because you know what… it’s working for me!
One thing I really appreciate about the @sexualhealthalliance is that they’ve encouraged curiosity over judgment. I’ve had assumptions challenged, beliefs questioned, and plenty of moments where I’ve realized, “Huh… maybe it’s more complicated than that.”
And honestly, I think that’s a good thing.
Human se//uality is messy, fascinating, diverse, and deeply personal. The more I learn, the more compassion I have for the different ways people experience it.
Big thank you to the @sexualhealthalliance for the education, the conversations, and the opportunity to learn from so many brilliant professionals in this space.
I’m still a student, still learning, and still endlessly fascinated by humans.
What’s one thing about secs, relationships, or intimacy that surprised you when you learned it? #pleasureeducation
