Let's talk about the vulva
We loveeeeeee to talk about the magic little bean ✨✨✨ (and for good reason…) but what about the vulv@? It is literally the gateway to female pleasure, yet it’s often ignored in conversation, media and even smeggs ed.
I’ll be honest and say (and please feel free to relate in the comments 🤣) that I am NOT used to using the word “vulv@“ and sometimes would giggle, because it sounded awkward to say. And you know what, that’s normal! We aren’t used to using that word to refer to our parts down there. Which is the anatomically correct term btw!
I only started using it more and more when I began learning more about smeggs health and education. And I have been learning a WHOLE lot about my vulv@ let me tell ya!
Below are a few interesting facts about your vulv@ you maybe didn’t know:
🦪 Each vulv@ is different in shape, size, colour which completely normal and beautiful! Check out the @thevulvagalleryandfriends
🦪 It encompasses far more than people realize: the labia majora, labia minora, clissorus, urethras and v@gin@l openings, mons pubis and more. It plays critical roles in plea$ure, protection, urination and reproduction.
🦪It’s responsive and adaptive. The vulv@ changes with arousal, hormonal cycles, pregnancy, and age, showing how dynamic and resilient it is.
🦪Vulvar skin issues are surprisingly widespread and affect mental and se$$ual well-being. Conditions like dermatitis, eczema, or psoriasis can affect pleasure and confidence.
* I had some scares at some point. Will tell you about it another time 🙄
🦪Vulvodynia (chronic vulv@r pain) impacts 15% of women, and is often misdiagnosed.
🦪Medical training on vulv@s is shockingly limited… the clissorus wasn’t even fully mapped until late 1990’s-early 2000’s 😳
🦪 Your vulv@ can undergo changes with menopause such as shrinkage or atrophy. This means that some vulv@r tissues may reduce in size slightly overtime. (Honestly when I heard about this one I was like 👀👀)
🦪 Learning about caring for your vulv@ (cleaning gently and exploring what feels good) can improve body confidence and smeggsual well-being.
Thanks @mariaulokomd for making me more aware!
